CASE STUDY LIVERPOOL HOPE UNIVERSITY
As a place of learning excellence for over 170 years, Liverpool Hope University has a deserved pedigree as one of the best venues for Higher Education throughout the region for nurturing talent and treating students on an individual basis.
Health and Safety Advisor, Julie Skinner, noticed a skills gap in the Catering Department when it came to Health & Safety training and partnered with Safety Media in order to find a suitable solution.
The University catering department employ around 120 staff, of which 30 are student / casual workers. Due to students’ education commitments they, understandably, experience a regular turnover of staff.
The staff rotate across 10 satellite outlets on two campuses, so providing formalised training can be a logistical nightmare!
Training provision has traditionally been carried out on commencement of employment with refresher training scheduled yearly. This was an incredibly difficult target to meet given the decentralised nature of the workforce and often left gaps in staff training records or indeed, costly bills.
“Since we have deployed the Express e-Learning package, all of our staff have successfully carried out relevant training, which is fully documented providing a full audit trail for our records.”
It is part of Safety Media’s commitment to Service Excellence which ensures all of our clients are looked after to the same standards, regardless of package or size of contract. When discussing the implementation of Express e-Learning system, Ms Skinner added:
“Safety Media provided me, as the system admin, with outstanding support, I was always able to contact a member of their team either by e-mail or telephone to answer any problems or queries I came across.”
Being able to provide robust recording and reporting on training undertaken is essential in any organisation. However, in an environment relying on temporary or seasonal staff, keeping on top of this training can be cumbersome.
Providing the right e-Learning solution based on individual organisational needs is where the consultants at Safety Media excel and when combined with “outstanding post implementation support”, it really is a winning combination.
