Minimum System Specifications
As with every computer based piece of software our systems have some minimum requirements to allow for optimum performance. These specifications are applicable for all versions of our LMS after V4 and are as follows: To use the e-Learning courses you will require:
Users will need a computer or apple device with a web browser and an internet connection to access Safety Media e-Learning Solutions.
Minimum Recommended Bandwidth: 2Mbs
- Processor: 600MHz
- Minimum Hard Disk Space Required – 1GB
- RAM: OS Dependent
The courses contain audio, system requirements for running the courses are browser dependant: Where no enabled audio device is detected and the browser defines that this is required the user will be informed via an error message window upon launching the course.
One of the following web-browsers:
Windows: Google Chrome or Internet Explorer (Versions as maintained and supported by the manufacturer)
OS X: Latest versions as maintained and supported by the manufacturer or Google Chrome.
IOS: Latest versions as maintained and supported by the manufacturer or Google Chrome.
Android: Latest versions as maintained and supported by the manufacturer or Google Chrome.
Adobe Reader or Reader DC (for viewing of PDF documents downloadable from the solution where applicable)
Plug-ins: Flash player: Version as recommended by Adobe
Recommended Firewall Settings and Email Whitelisting:
Safety Media Solutions require access to the domain *.safetylearning.co.uk
System generated email notifications are issued from the email address email@example.com and this address must be whitelisted where applicable
For Dashboard users (Client & Department Admin), font and dynamic mapping functionality require access to the domains:
Classroom Training Solution
Classroom trainers will need a master device as per the specifications above.
Classroom trainees will require a tablet or mobile device connected to the internet via Wi-Fi.
The Firewall must be configured to allow outgoing traffic via port 8080.
To use our Authoring Package to maximum effect to create your own courses within our LMS system you will require a few minimum specifications.
- CPU:500 megahertz (MHz) processor or higher (32- or 64-bit)
- Memory:256 MB minimum
- Available Disk Space: 100 MB minimum
- Display800 X 600 screen resolution (1,024 x 768 or higher recommended)
- Multimedia:Sound card and microphone (if recording narration)
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 or later,XP SP2 or later (32- or 64-bit), 2003,Vista (32- or 64-bit), or Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit)
- .NET Runtime: .NET 2.0 (gets installed if not present)
- Microsoft Powerpoint: PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (PowerPoint XP), PowerPoint 2003,PowerPoint 2007, or PowerPoint 2010 (32-bit only)
Please note if your system is only just compatible with the above requirements the Authoring Package may run slowly.
NCC Group were contracted by Safety Media to conduct a security assessment of the LMS web application. The web application is to be used for the delivering e-learning courses, with user and content admin facilities.
The assessment aimed to identify any vulnerabilities which could be exploited in order to attack the system, attack other users, bypass controls, escalate privileges or extract sensitive data. During the assessment the consultants used non-invasive testing techniques to identify any weaknesses from any possible perspective.
The report from NGS noted that “Good security practices were observed” and that all potential vulnerabilities had been closed off.
In short we have made sure our system is completely hacker proof and allow system administrators of our LMS the freedom to set and manage their own preferences.
